Cancellation conditions
Your confirmation specifies the terms and conditions applicable to your booking. When altering the details of your booking, the terms and conditions of your reservation may be subject to change. The most recent version of the confirmation shall prevail.
Conditions apply to reservations:
- Bookings for 1–30 people
- Conference services booked online
- Bookings containing 1–4 hotel rooms
Booking changes and trip cancellations
When such a trip is altered or cancelled, a cancellation fee is subject to the following conditions:

As an exception, tickets for route traffic on the Helsinki–Tallinn v.v. route can be altered or cancelled without incurring additional charges up to 24 hours before departure. This exception does not apply to cruises and other types of travel.
Please note that different refund conditions may apply to charters and trips that include tickets for theatre and opera performances, concerts and other events.
General terms
- Modifying your journey involves changes to the date, route, number of tourists, places for vehicles, etc., up to 24 hours before departure. Changes can be made to an existing booking without the need for complete cancellation.
- The deduction does not apply if the passenger changes services to a cheaper option.
- The deduction does not apply if the passenger has cancellation insurance and the trip is cancelled no later than 3–24 hours* before departure.
- Handling fees and cancellation insurance are non-refundable.
- The passenger has the right to change the travel date no later than 24 hours before departure for an alternative trip to be taken within 12 months. If the passenger changes the travel date, no deductions will be made.
- Trips that are not fully paid by the due date specified in the booking confirmation will be cancelled.
- Refund amounts of less than EUR 20 or SEK 200 will not be paid but will be reserved in the passenger's account for 12 months.
- If the booking includes a connection with a bus service, the departure time is calculated from the moment the bus departs.
Viking Line urges passengers to purchase travel insurance that includes cancellation protection in the event of illness or accident.
* A deadline for route traffic on the Helsinki–Tallinn v.v. route is 3 hours if the booking does not include a hotel. A deadline for other types of travel is 24 hours.
If the first part of the trip is not used
If the first part of the journey is cancelled or goes unused, Viking Line shall also cancel the return trip. This also applies to cruises. Refunds are made in accordance with the cancellation conditions.
Interruption of travel
If the trip has already commenced, no refunds will be provided.
Viking Line refund policy
An application for reimbursement due to trip cancellation can be submitted either online at the time of cancellation or later through the 'My Booking' section. You can also request a refund by contacting our Customer Service.
- To process the refund, please provide the booking number and your bank details, such as the IBAN account number and BIC/SWIFT code.
- If the trip was paid for with a card, the refund will be processed back to the same card used for payment after submitting the refund application.
- If the trip was paid for at a travel agency, the refund will be processed at the travel agency where the trip was purchased.
- Unclaimed refunds cannot be transferred to another person.
